About

Hi! I’m Maria Klara Wolters (Maria for short), a German living in Scotland. I come from a town close to the Dutch border, which explains my last name, and while I can understand Dutch, I can’t speak it.

I am a Research Fellow at the School of Informatics and used to be a Research Scientist in Psychology, both at the University of Edinburgh. I have a Dr. phil. (doctorate, equivalent to Ph.D.) in communication research and phonetics and a Diplom (equivalent to M.Sc.) in Computer Science, both from the University of Bonn in Germany.

I help people and companies get the most out of eHealth and health IT through my consultancy, Technology to Thrive.

Other homes on the web include:
  • Twitter:  @mariawolters (where I share news, views, and the odd joke)
  • LinkedIn: Maria Wolters (my self-updating address book)

I blog at my research blog, Speech and Science, and at my Tumblr Randomness and Light.

I have a Facebook account and a LiveJournal / Dreamwidth, but both are private.
